Dr Geisler will arrange an anomaly scan ("20 week scan") which usually occurs at 20-22 weeks. The anomaly scan is performed by an experienced ultrasonographer in the Fetal Assessment Unit of Cork University Maternity Hospital. It is a thorough assessment of your baby's development at that stage, checking the development of the baby's vital organs. The scan will not detect all health problems including some cases of Down syndrome. Most scans will be normal. If a problem is detected, Dr Geisler will discuss it with you and make further plans as required.
